I'm not going away. I'm just stepping back from this here. The blog, that is. It's a decision with which I've struggled for at least a year. To stop posting my regular, like clockwork, three-times a week on "The Journey with Grace" so I can get the tentatively (because it's the publishers who tell you what you're gonna call your book) eponymously titled book finished. In this day and age of social media dependency, that's seriously counter-intuitive. (Some might say digital suicide.) I'm not a stats watcher. (At least not obsessively.) I don't understand three-quarters of the stuff I am doing via social media. I'm the whiner in Facebook social media groups and the blogger at conferences old enough to be the mother of most of the other bloggers. My most over-used word is "confused." But, I know that even reducing to two times a week drastically reduces readership traffic to this site and I need that readership for my upcoming book.
Yet. I'm knowing with absolute certainty that my book has a place in the
world. That I want to be of service and a vessel through words, images
and stories that this is a beautiful life with disAbility. That this
life of challenge, any challenge, is a classroom of experience to
encourage us each to grow. I want to share that with you and so many more within the confines of a book.
Does anyone else have this experience?: We've created all these devices to stay in touch and zip our messages around the universe and back. And, yet, the act of zipping and disseminating and sharing and posting and….well, right now, managing GraceArt, taking care of Grace, myself, the house and "all the rest of life," I'm not getting to the point of this blog. Which is, to be a platform for my books (and ideas, passions, and causes). (That's also part of the reason you don't see razzle-dazzle and flashy product ads here.)
I'll be here, on "The Journey for Grace" blog, just less. And less regularly. I've got posts I've promised (that I solicited) on special causes and events because I love promoting others and various social causes. I've got posts planned to share with you about what other authors are doing, too. And, I'm sure, I'll get a wild hair and write something passionate about something or another in the meantime. I'll still be on Facebook, (love/hate,) and, I'll be pinning some older posts there and to Twitter and dropping a feather in the canyon of Google+. Plus, I'm thinking that instead of keeping this machine called the blog going per usual, I'll be back to writing some richer content to share here about the journey while I'm finishing writing the journey. Got that? And, it's already happening.
Hang tight as I round another bend in the journey. Thanks for your loyalty, support, love and encouragement. I've been doing this blogging thing for five years come October. Wow. It's been a wild, fun and terribly annoying ride. Stay tuned….
Best of luck in your new phase! We’ll be here when you get back. 🙂
Thank you, Tracy, for your recent comment (or not-so-recently) on my blog. Sorry I missed it earlier. I appreciate your words of encouragement.
