Pages marked, notes ready. Waiting for an audience. Before our Davis-Kidd book signing & discussion last week.
Every week this January–as photographer/collaborator Rebekah Pope noted at last's week's successful Davis-Kidd book signing and discussion–was booked with a Heartache to Hope event. I'd not realized that until she said it. Funny the things you don't realize when you're in the thick of the forest as I am, still, with our book. Of course, some events were long planned. Others happened more spontaneously.
And, tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 19, is one such. We were moved and excited to receive a kind invitation after our Brentwood Photography Group presentation the first full week of "Twenty-Ten," to address the Nashville Photography Club at 7 p.m., First Baptist Nashville. Whereas last week's emphasis was on the literary, this will again be more photography-focused.
And then that means we've one more winter event, next week, Thurs., Jan. 28 at 5 p.m., with a reception at Vanderbilt's Kennedy Center lobby/gallery. Yesterday, Mon., January 18, eleven additional 20×20 enlargements of Rebekah's moving photos from the book made their debut at the Center, along with the first batch of 10 photographs that premiered at our Book Launch mid November, made their debut at Vanderbilt. I enjoyed extracting key quotes and poignant segments from each family's special story for titles to be place alongside the photographs. Click the hyperlinks in the body of this paragraph for details on the reception, the new exhibit, and also for tonight's event. All are open to the public. The emphasis at the Vanderbilt reception will be on celebrating the families who allowed their stories to be told in words and photographs. We'll also being doing a brief presentation about the book and a lil' Q&A.
We are grateful for the continuing interest and support. Keep it coming! It's a fabulous cause.
Snapshots before and after. Our book display at the front of the store, above, and the signed copies placed at the end of the register after our signing & discussion.
