Tennessee Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kim McMillan announced yesterday she will drop out of the race. McMillan would have been the first woman governor in our southern state. Instead, she will be running for mayor in Tennessee's fifth largest city: Clarksville.
Today was the day that she would have officially filed her bid. Leading up to this point, the university professor, former gubernatorial adviser and state legislator was having difficulty raising funds in these toxic times of Republicans-on-steroids-Tea-Party-ism.
Attempts to meet with her former communications adviser to discuss my volunteer contributions to her social media campaign never happened. That person ended up leaving her campaign and I was too deluged with book details. While part of me is relieved I did not sign on, the experience still would have been worthy.
My previous posts on McMillan are here and here.
