One way to get to Athens, Tenn., where Grace had an art show in April at the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum, is to travel down I-24 from Nashville through Chattanooga town and then up toward Knoxville.
Athens is somewhere out there in between. The first Sunday night of
spring break, Grace and I traveled to Chattanooga before
delivering GraceArt to the Athens museum.

The tire track and foot prints in the side walk (top left) are
intentional and were beneath this bicycle wall sculpture, below. Top
right, that's me just playing with some refreshment and my shades at a
restaurant. Bottom left, street artists left their art on an alleyway
sign. And last, that's me making some of my own art by seeing the art in
concrete and then playing with it by adding colors with filters in my
camera phone.
Twice, when delivering and picking up the GraceArt exhibit, I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Chestnut in downtown Chattanooga. It's a green hotel, newly purchased by Hilton. I delighted in the decor, which much of looked to maybe be from recycled materials. Take a look:The "fight clean" was a sign in the elevator picturing a pillow fight and, best I recall, it was advertising their green or clean bedding practices. (Let's hope.) I thought the sign was cute and added it to my photo collection of interesting signs. Pictured are carpet, wall paper, lights, room dividers in the lobby and a three-dimensional sculpture shown twice here. I became inspired by unusual light fixtures on this trip and I'll be sharing many of them embedded in this new travel series here "On the Journey with Grace."
