It's been a wordy week here at "The Journey with Grace" with two long posts ("An Irreverent Homage to a Mentor" bookending the week on ArtsFriday tomorrow,) and with the week's kick-off post featuring a personal domestic affairs update and a short piece on personal "grace" wedged in the middle with only a tad of type art….We gotta get some visual ahhhhhrt in here this week. So, I'm pleased to slide in happy news and a peek at Nashville artist Lisa Ernst's painting, below:
Trumpet Diptych, “36” x 48,” permanent collection, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, copyrighted, Lisa Ernst
Ernst's above painting is one of several artists' works featured on the cover of the soon-to-be released book, Contemporary Painters. The coffee table book highlights the selected work of 100 artists worldwide. Ernst has five works included in the publication, including the above.
The artist's work was featured by "The Journey with Grace" in these previous posts: Art & Medicine, Arts at the Airport and Fruits of Summer.
It's been a bit cold, gray and dreary here in Nashville this week. I hope this splashes a douse of a needed color not only for your peeps but also for your spirit. Enjoy!
Downtown Nashville has a number of great cerolod brick walls on the numbered streets off broadway. The Shelby Street pedestrian bridge is a very popular location for shoots, with great overlook views of downtown. The Parthenon in Centennial park offers interesting possibilities as well.Cheekwood gardens is a superb natural setting with a variety of vistas.Make sure to check on any of these ahead of time, as some require permits or a fee to be allowed to shoot.
Hello Sara, I just had to laugh at your hubby’s AT schedule. I rbeememr years ago, my hubby went to Hawaii for 3 wks of AT, because apparently it was too expensive for the Navy to only send them there for two weeks. So they spent three weeks renovating barracks in Honolulu and worked from 7am Noon every day and then were free the rest of the day. Tough job, During that time, my daughter ended up really sick, I was working and doing the single mom thing too, and hubby calls home to tell me about how he was swimming with giant turtles that day before their luau that night. Yeah, I still don’t let him live that one down! LOL So my sympathies are with you!
