Another gem from Nashville-based (daily MUST read) "Spirit Coach" Gregory Fisher, via his June 16, "Gregory Fisher's Treat Yourself to Your Best" This post is entitled "Fingerprint:"
"I see people every day who are struggling to find a life with meaning. Many of them are successful in business, happily partnered or married, and healthy. But they feel unfulfilled.
"They haven't found their unique calling. They haven't spent time looking within to become comfortable with their true story. I think they are afraid of how their lives may change if they do.
"And I am confident of this one thing. Finding our purpose and following the calling can only improve our lives. Circumstances may change very little, but the ecstasy of moving in flow with our highest and best will be worth any shift required.
"Our fingerprint isn't the only thing about us that is unduplicated anywhere in the history of humankind. No two callings are the same. There is a mission for each of us that only we can perform. We must find our position in the Universe. And then we will know bliss."
What. A. Summer. I was wrung out in just about every capacity. Yesterday, I returned from a North Carolina mountain vacay, refreshed….I'm eager to tune in and further actualize my life purpose….Beginning next month, I'll once again focus on the eventual birth of my second book, The Journey with Grace….
Photo, above, from our first (2008) session with talented photographer Rebekah Pope. Pope was my collaborator on our book, From Heartache to Hope: Middle Tennessee Families Living with Autism. She specializes in family and children's portraiture and is accredited by Special Kids Photography of America.
Thank you Leisa for the re-post! And I’m your cheeleader on the book. What do you need from me? I’m there!
Beautiful photo of you & Grace…and thanks for this reminder of our unique calling. I’m still discovering mine…I think it’s a lifelong journey.
Thanks, Gregory, Anne.
Gregory, I’d be curious how you’d respond to Anne’s comment. I would agree that, at least, it’s a lifelong journey–in my experience–of refining that purpose. I certainly was given a new twist on my life’s purpose with my daughter’s autism…like a denouement. (How’s that, English major-Anne?) Also in my experience there are steps we can take to get clear on our purpose. The best tool I discovered was a course called “People on Purpose” that helped me come up with a mission statement. I have tweaked and modified that statement over 20 years, but the essence/foundation of it remains the same.
Thanks again for your comments!
I absolutely love this post! I wholeheartedly agree that living your life purpose is key to living the juiciest, most fulfilling life possible. When we live our calling, it is not only a gift to others, it is a gift to ourselves.
It is great that you are sharing your wisdom with others here. You are truly making a difference in the world. Keep doing what you are doing!
To your magnificence!
