Nashville–In a continuing effort
to “make the invisible visible,” The Arc Davidson County and The Arc
Williamson County join together in co-sponsoring The Sprout Touring Film
Festival, an evening of short films by and/or concerning, people with
disabilities. Sprout, a private, non-profit organization, founded in
1979, offers innovative programming related to the field of
developmental disabilities.
In addition to their
travel and recreational programs which are dedicated to helping
individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities grow
through challenging and safe travel experiences, Sprout’s film programs
challenge and expose the general public to consider the important issues
facing people with disabilities by viewing films of artistry and
intellect, which reinforce accurate portrayals of people with
developmental disabilities.
The film festival will be
held at Ruby, located at 2411 Blakemore Avenue, from 6 to 9 p.m. The
$40 admission includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine and non-alcoholic
drinks, a silent auction, valet parking and the opportunity to meet the
staff of both Davidson and Williamson County agencies, and, of course,
some wonderful short films. Advance ticket sales are available through: Eventbrite.com
