He is a quiet man. At least that's how I've experienced him. And quietly he toiled away, his day job–a techie at Vanderbilt University. I met Richard Morton, whose pen name is Carson Morton, (Carson is his middle name,) through my friend, author Paul Dolman. In the last eight years, Paul and I have written at least two manuscripts a piece. (Paul, likely more). And, put them aside. Last year, Paul published the going-gang-busters indie Hitchhiking with Larry David and two years ago I also published with collaborator photographer Rebekah Pope, the near sold-out, independent From Heartache to Hope: Middle Tennessee Families Living with Autism. Last year I also returned to my original manuscript, The Journey with Grace: A Mother's Reflections of Raising a Daughter with Autism, and in the meantime Richard pulled a publishing coo, snagging a deal with St. Martin's Press (Minotaur Books) with Stealing Mona Lisa. It made its' Nashville debut at Barnes & Nobles, last night. (Sorry, I did tweet it!)
Richard, err, Carson, is an Englishman by birth and has worked as professional musician (this is Nashville,) playwright, screenwriter, and now Stealing Mona Lisa is his first novel–actually a mystery. St. Martin's released the book on August 2, coinciding with the 100-year anniversary of the stealing of Mona Lisa. In this clever plot, the Mona Lisa is based on a true story with an interesting twist….The Mona Lisa is stolen again and then replicated six times and sold to six American robber barrons. It's getting impressive reviews!
Bravo, Richard…Carson Morton! Details on purchasing Stealing Mona Lisa here.
